About
About This Site
This site was created by a financial advisor with 42 years of experience as a way to provide critical information to the public about long-term care without sales hyperbole.
Why This Site Exists
Long-term care is one of the most significant financial risks facing older Americans — and one of the least understood. Most people encounter information about it only when they are being sold something: an insurance policy, an annuity, a financial planning engagement. The result is that the public's understanding of long-term care is shaped largely by marketing materials rather than by neutral analysis.
This site exists to change that. It was built to give people the facts they need to understand the risk, evaluate their options, and make informed decisions. The educational content is editorially independent — it is not written to steer readers toward any particular product or strategy.
The information on this site draws on publicly available data from government agencies, academic researchers, and industry surveys. Where sources disagree — as they sometimes do on questions like the probability of needing care — this site presents the range and explains the disagreement rather than choosing the number that makes the best headline.
This site is maintained by Blue Tiger Financial. If you would like to discuss your personal long-term care situation with the creator of this site, you are welcome to reach out directly at rodney@longtermcareforme.com. There is no obligation and no sales pitch — just a conversation if it would be useful.
Editorial Principles
- Editorially independent content
- The educational content on this site is written to inform, not to sell. It is not written to favor any particular insurance product, financial strategy, or planning approach. Where evidence supports multiple conclusions, multiple conclusions are presented.
- Every statistic is sourced
- Every number on this site is attributed to a specific organization and year — either inline in the text or in the Sources section of the About page. Where sources disagree, the disagreement is noted and both figures are presented.
- Complexity is acknowledged
- Long-term care planning involves genuine uncertainty — about how long care will be needed, what it will cost, and which strategies will work best for a given family. This site does not pretend otherwise.
- Rules change; verify before acting
- Medicaid rules, insurance regulations, tax limits, and benefit amounts change over time and vary by state. This site is a starting point for understanding, not a substitute for current professional advice.
